Jaylee's surgery

Jay was born with an epigastric hernia. It's a hernia above her belly button and below her ribcage. The only way to get rid of it is with surgery unfortunately. So Jaylee went in for the procedure a couple weeks ago. It was just a simple same day surgery and everything went really well.

Gavin has a "Good Job" chart that we started and whenever he does what he is asked or something nice then he gets a sticker. We told him when the chart is full he would get to go to the zoo. Well last weekend he filled it up and it was perfect timing because we aren't going to have any free time here in about 2 weeks with building the house.

Jame and I took a little drive past our lot this evening, okay lets face it....we take a little drive past our lot like weekly, It's pretty ridiculous and I think we may be scaring the neighbors :/ We can't help it, we are so dang excited!! Anyways today when we drove by we saw a big tractor on our property and realized they had begun to dig our hole! WAHOO!!!!
On a side note: I found an article that said the Payson Temple ground breaking will be held Oct 8th by Dallin H Oaks. This means as we build our homes we get to watch the Temple be built as well since it's across the street from us, pretty neat :)

It's about time for an update!

Sheesh I am WAY behind on blogging and feel like there is tons to post. I am just going to give a quick summary of what's been going on lately. We officially moved to my Mom's house and are supposed to start building within the next 3 weeks!! We closed on our loan and they should start digging and laying the foundation hopefully the end of this week. I can't believe it's going to start, it seems so unreal still. Tomorrow we get to go pick out the colors, cabinets, carpeting, etc which I am really excited about!

Gavin started preschool and is LOVING it! His teacher is Mrs Melanie and she is so good with the kids. Gav is singing tons of new songs and telling me all about friends he has made. I am so glad he is enjoying it and can't believe how grown up he is getting. He looks a lot older for his age too I noticed. He seems to be taller than everyone in his class and the teacher double checked his birth date with me when she first met him because she thought he looked older

Jaylee has been so sick this past week. It really worried me and we almost took her into the E.R. at one point. After 4 Doctors, 2 different antibiotics, really high fevers for about 4 days straight, and lots of other un-fun things we found out she has double ear infections and roseola. I feel so bad for her. She has been absolutely miserable and we are ready to have our active, talkative, silly little girl back!!

Jame got a job promotion with his company Xango! I am so proud of him and know he will do a great job even though he is a little nervous about keeping up with his new responsibilities. He now has to commute to Lehi 3 days a week and the the other 2 days he can still work at the warehouse in Sp Fork. It's not too bad because he carpools with a couple of coworkers so he really only drives to Lehi once a week.

And finally we got a new car.....actually 2 new cars!!! We have been married for over 5 yrs and the whole time we only had one vehicle. It was so hard and we were definitely ready to have 2 cars. We traded in our stupid caliber, it was constantly giving us issues and problems that we shouldn't have been having, and got a Honda CRV. We are both in love with this vehicle and I am really lucky because I am the one that gets to drive it most the time. I feel very spoiled :) We got a little Toyota Corolla for Jame to drive back and forth which will be good on gas. It's still weird having 2 cars and we aren't used to it. We keep making arrangements as though we only have one car and then realize we don't need to do that anymore :P

Whew, anyways there is some of what has been going on lately and I will hopefully get some pics loaded up here in the next day or 2

New HOUSE!!

I can't believe I am actually writing this because I seriously thought the day would never come but....we are building a house! We are so dang excited! We are building in Payson by the new Temple and hopefully we will be moved in within 6 to 8 months, in the mean time we will be staying at my Mom's to save some money.

We are going to miss this place here in Springville, we have loved it and made a lot of great memories! The pool is going to be really hard to leave...

California…second half

So on our drive from Fairfield down to Anaheim, Gavin thought we were driving home. At one of our pit stops we decided to fill him in on the good news….we were really meeting our friends Dustin, Jennifer, Trayce, and Trevyn at Disneyland!! We recorded it on tape (surprising him) but I am having a hard time uploading the video, I will keep trying though. We also drove by a ton of windmills, which was really neat so I took a pic through the car window.

James and I also had our first experience with draw bridges on our drive down. Oh man, I thought we were going to die! As we were driving we saw this sign on our right that said “Draw bridge ahead, if light is yellow, prepare to stop” so we keep driving a little further, probably going about 40 miles per hour, and we both notice a stoplight off to the side. Right as we drive past it it changes yellow and Jame panics! He literally starts slowing way down and saying “What do I do, What should I do?!” I start freaking out and I am like “REVERSE!!!” So Jame slams on his breaks and throws the car in reverse like we are going to die! ha ha, the car behind us (who had stopped at the line like he was supposed to) had to have thought we were absolutely crazy! So Jame starts reversing and then this bar (the kind that drop down to block the train tracks when trains go by) starts coming down almost on top of our car so I start screaming and Jame throws the car in reverse again and moved back a little more. We sat there forever watching this stupid boat, which had to be going maybe 3 miles per hour, make it’s way through. Jame asked me “What would we have done if I didn’t get back in time?” I said “Probably grab the kids and run off the side of the road swearing like a sailor! Everyone would have been staring and laughing at us and it would have been humiliating!” Then we realized the type of draw bridge it was…. It was the kind that turn sideways, not the kind that go up and down. So even if we would have driven out too far we would have been fine, we just would have went on a little ride is all It was so scary at the time, but hilarious now that I look back at it. We looked like such idiots lol!

We got to our hotel late that afternoon and met up with our friends for dinner. We walked through downtown disney as well.

The next day we headed to Disneyland and I don’t know who was more excited, Jame and I, or Gavin. We had a blast going on the rides and taking pictures with characters. The first day we spent at Disneyland and the second day we went to California Adventures. On day 3 we spent the first half at the beach and the last half finishing up some rides that we didn’t get to do the day before at California Adventures.

Unknowingly, the huge Hollywood premier of Pirates of the Carribean 4 was being held the same night in Disneyland, so they closed the park early (5 pm) and everyone had to squish at California Adventures. The line wait times doubled as soon as 5:00 hit so that wasn’t so fun…. It was neat thinking that big celebrities like Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz were right across the way from us though ha ha. I heard tickets to the premiere were like $1000 a piece and people were camping out overnight trying to catch a glimpse.

*side note: On day one at Disney our dang sunscreen (the kind in the aerosol can) exploded in our backpack and completely ruined everything!! Our camera, Jame’s work cell phone, our disneyland tickets (keep in mind we needed those same tickets to get in and out of the park for the next 2 days!) all of our snacks, Jame’s wallet with important documents like his temple recommend and so on. We were freaking out. We went immediately to the customer service center and they took great care of us. They printed out new tickets, no questions asked! I was so relieved. Our camera still works even though the screen looks awful and it is hard to see what you are actually taking a picture of. Jame’s phone wasn’t so lucky and never revived Here are some pictures for you, some are pretty bad quality taken with my cell phone after the accident.

The beach we went to was Wood’s Cove at Laguna Beach. It’s one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen! They had beautiful beach homes right on the edge of the cliffs looking out over the water. This beach had some tide pools too that Jame took Gavin over to see. They saw starfish, hermit crabs, and other types of fish.

This was such a great trip and I am so lucky to have spent all this time with my family doing lots of fun things and seeing new places. It was all worth it, even Gavin getting car sick and puking on the way home :/

We have been counting down the days to this trip for months now! This is what we woke up to to begin our long drive to Reno...even more reason to be excited about leaving!

We knew we were going to be doing a ton of driving so we rented a car from Hertz so we didn't have to put all the miles and wear n' tear on our vehicle. I am so glad we did this, we got a 2010 Toyota Corolla and saved a ton on gas. It was well worth the money to rent it. We stopped in Elko for lunch and to re fuel then we were back on the road headed for Reno to spend the night. When we got to our hotel we decided to go check out downtown Reno and see what it was all about. Jame and I were not fans so we grabbed Subway and headed back to the hotel for the night soon after this picture :)

The next morning we got back in the car and headed to our good friends Chris and Whitney's house in Fairfield. They have been staying with her parents but are moving back to Utah in a couple months. They were so sweet to invite us out to stay with them and we didn't want to miss out on such a great opportunity. Fairfield is about 40 min away from San Francisco. We drove through the Sierra Nevada's for the first time and it was beautiful! Jame and I were both surprised at how well the kids were doing in the car. Gavin did get a lil queasy but overall did really good. We arrived at Whitney's parents house that afternoon and it was amazing! I have never been to northern Cali before and couldn't believe all the green hills and meadows. It was incredible but immediately Jame and my allergies started acting up. After a quick trip to Walmart for medicine we were all set.

This house was so much fun and had everything from a pool to goats to fresh strawberries to a mini trampoline and more. Gavin was in absolute Heaven!! Whitney's family took us in as their own and couldn't have been more nice. Whitney's sweet Mom Cindy took on the role of Grandma to Gavin and Jaylee. My kids got so much love and attention it was wonderful!

The next day we woke up and headed for Muir Woods. This place is so neat!! You could smell the eucalyptus trees and see huge red woods. The scenery was breathtaking, take a look for yourself...

Next we headed to Muir Beach, This is what Gavin had been looking forward to for a very long time. He was so excited to see the ocean and this was a great ocean to see! The scenery was amazing and I was so jealous of all the homes up on the cliff that had the most incredible view ever! We had a picnic and listened to the waves crash in. The kids played a little with some sand toys but it was too cold to swim

After the beach we met Chris and Whitney at Fisherman's Wharf. We drove on the Golden Gate Bridge to get there and that was quite the experience. Then we finally found parking at the Wharf. What a crazy place, I have never seen anything like it! We went to the aquarium on Pier 39, where Gavin got to touch a very cool snake, then we ate at the Rainforest Cafe. We walked past the seals out on the docks and saw a bunch of street performers. Our favorite was this crazy skeleton guy that was dancing. After we left the wharf we stopped at Baker's Beach. It is an awesome beach with a great view of Golden Gate Bridge. It was freezing though and Jame, Chris, & Whitney must have been crazy because they all got in the water!!

Well that was the first part of our trip and I have to go to bed now, so I will post the second half

Savannah's New Hair!

My cute little sister in law asked me to cut her hair like on Tangled (at the end where her hair is real short) sorry if you haven't seen the movie yet, hope I didn't spoil anything! Anyways I was really excited to cut it, because I knew she would look adorable and short hair cuts are my favorite to do. I always forget to take a before picture though until it's too late so I only have the after pic, I love how it turned out though!

The other day we were at the grocery store and I told him to sing me a song. He started singing "do dah nee nah dee do" over and over. It started getting really annoying so I told him that wasn't a real song and to sing a song that he has learned. He then looked at me like I was so stupid and said "Mom, I AM singing a real song...It's in spanish." The lady next to us started laughing.

And to end on a sweet note today he told me "Mom, your a real cute sweetie....I am serious" awwww, I love this kid :)

Jaylee is walking!!

Jay had her 1 yr doctor appt the other day and measured in at 26'' long and 20 lbs. She is in the 46% on her height and 20 something percentile on her weight. It's funny to think back to when she was just born, she was so big she didn't even measure on the charts! She is so much fun and has just started walking! Also we did her first piggy tails today, she is so cute!

James and I celebrated our 5 yr anniversary yesterday, April 8th and we both can't believe it's been that long. It seems like just yesterday we were planning our wedding and having to say goodbye at night to each other. We HATED being engaged and couldn't wait til our wedding day.
I love him so incredibly much and I really am the luckiest girl out there. Jame is such a giving person and always is putting his family and others before himself. Yesterday I woke up to flowers and doughnuts and then when Jame got home from work we went to dinner and a movie. He surprised me a few months ago with my new band to go with my wedding ring and I got him a couple of bikes.
I am so excited to continue spending my life married to my best friend

Oh my where has the time gone?? I can't believe our little baby girl is a year old now! She isn't walking yet but when she stands without help, and realizes, she will immediately sit down. She has 6 teeth with more ready to poke through the gums any day now. She giggles at the silly things her big brother does and if you stick something on your head (washcloth, pants, pillow) she thinks it is the funniest thing she ever saw. She is such a joy and it feels like she has always been here in our family, I can't imagine a day without her! She was spoiled rotten at her Tinkerbell birthday party and got a ton of adorable clothes to wear this summer. She went to town on her cake, I didn't think it was possible for her to eat as much of it as she did! Thanks to all the friends and family that helped make her day special, she is a lucky girl.

Jame's boss game him a couple tickets to the Jazz game. They were row 18 and I guess they cost about $150 each. He found out the day of the game, so we tried finding a babysitter last minute but had no luck. We decided to have Jame take Gavin and I am so glad that he did. I ended up getting a horrible migraine that night and Gavin really had fun. His favorite part, of course, was the bear :)I got a picture before they headed out, and after 3 tries I finally got a good one. Sheesh, I didn't realize it was so hard to hold still for one little picture!

New Table

I found this table on KSL for only $20. It definitely needed some work but I could see potential so I talked Jame into letting me get it. It was a hideous hunter green color with a light tan finish on top. I sanded the whole thing down and then painted it black. Then I distressed it and I absolutely love the finished result!! KSL rocks! Here are the before and after pics....

Oh my can I tell you how excited I was when James came home and surprised me with a new ring. I have been wanting a band to go with my wedding ring since we got married, well our 5 yr anniversary is coming up (April 8th) and he decided to surprise me a little early this year! I can't believe it, I absolutely love it and he is the sweetest husband in the whole world. I couldn't be happier being married to him and I feel so spoiled. He wanted a new bike, and a coworker of his was selling 2 bikes for a really good deal. So that is what he got from me and he is so excited for it to warm up outside so he can ride to work. Yes you heard me correctly, to work!! I wish I was as motivated as him :)

I went to my friends house and she showed me how to make these really cute hair clips. Crawling for reals this time!

Jaylee has officially been crawling for about a month now. She is into everything and all over the place! I can't turn my head for two seconds! We put the playpin in front of the stairs and blocked the kitchen off with a chair. We have a baby gate but can't find the parts to it since we moved. I am sure they are up in the attic in a box somewhere. She pulls her self up to things but as soon as she is standing on her own, and realizes it, she immediately sits down. She knows where her hair is and her nose, she loves to dance, and her new favorite thing is to stand and look out the window. She gets so excited when people walk by and she waves to them, it's so cute!! I can't believe she is turning a year old in less than a month! In the first pic you can see some of her teeth that have come through as well :)

Feeding the ducks

The weather was so nice today so Gavin and I decided to go feed the ducks here in Springville. Gavin really had fun but those ducks were absolutely crazy!! They definitely had not been fed in awhile and you could sure tell. We started feeding about 5 or 6 cute little ducks and within a matter of about 5 min we had geese honking at us from across the street, ducks flying in over our heads, and big white birds literally stepping on our feet trying to eat the bread out of our hands!! It was a little nerve racking so instead of ripping the bread into pieces and throwing it, we were tossing whole pieces just to save ourselves lol!

This little cutie wants to follow her big brother everywhere, she just can't figure out quite how to do it yet...

She also loves to say DaDa, MaMa (every once in a great while) and say/wave bye-bye. She will copy things too. Like the other day Gavin was singing his favorite Ke$ha song, and on the part that says "DJ turn it up up up" Jaylee would start saying up up up over and over again. Today I saw her put a play cell phone to her ear and start babbling in her own language, it was SO cute! She would stop for a minute, look up at me and grin, then do it all over again. It was like she was so proud of herself and wanted to make sure I was witnessing what she was doing. I can't believe how grown up she is getting. I love watching her grow but I am sad at the same time because it is all happening way to fast!

Jame went last Monday to get the packing and splints removed from his nose. He was pretty nervous that is was going to hurt, but he was pleasantly surprised!! The Dr removed the splints first, which by the way were enormous! Who knew those things were so long! Then Dr Sharma sprayed some numbing medicine up Jame's nose and removed the packing that was left in there from the surgery. I got to watch everything on a screen (they used a scope to go up and remove it) and it was pretty gross but also really cool. James was shocked at how much air he was breathing in through his nose, he noticed a huge difference immediately. He even started getting light headed because he isn't used to having that much oxygen come through his nose, it was kind of funny. That night he got stuffed up again and does off and on through out the day still. I will post the pics, but beware some of them are pretty gross... I don't blame you if you just want to skip over them, I know I probably would ;) Some people have wanted to see the pics though, so here you go! The first pic is of the splints, then there is one of Dr Sharma pointing to the area the tumor was growing from. Then there is the packing that was removed and finally a pic of Jame with his new favorite Doctor :)

We are SO happy and excited to say that the surgery was a success and the tumor is gone!!! Here is how the day went....

James and I woke up at 4:00 am to be up at LDS hospital by 6. My mom met us at our place and rode up with us. She was my support system to get me through the long day of waiting and worrying. When we arrived at the hospital James checked in and after a small wait they called us back to start his I.V. and change him into his hospital gown.

Then we got to wait again, probably a couple hours by the time they came to get Jame for his embolization. They took him to radiology and after some more waiting we talked to a nice DR who was going to be performing the technical process of putting a catheter into Jame's artery by his groin and feeding it up through the body and into his head. Then they inserted dye to find the main blood source supplying the tumor. James was awake during this entire process due to commands and questions they needed to ask him as they went along. After they found the main blood supply they injected a medication into the tumor that would cauterize the blood and make the risk of excessive bleeding go way down.

They told my Mom and I that this would take around an hour so we headed back to a different waiting room and started watching the clock. After an hour and 45 min went by I was pretty nervous so my Mom went to the front desk and asked for an update. The lady called and they told her they were just finishing up and would be out in a few minutes. Then the Dr came and talked to us. He told us everything went really well and that Jame was a very mellow guy which made his job a lot easier. He said he was a star patient and wished they all could be like him. Then he walked us over to Jame and we got to ask him how everything went. He said when they injected the dye into him it made his entire face go extremely hot and then he saw blue coloring and flashes of light. The Dr said that was the dye passing through the veins in his eyes. He also heard crackling by his left ear as the catheter and dye were going through.

After the embolization was done, the O.R. was calling wondering where they were because they were supposed to start the surgery a long time ago. So they rushed James over and before we knew it he was back there and My Mom and I were heading to another waiting room. Shortly after they took James back his Mom showed up and then not too long after that James sister Maegan came over as well. It was so nice to have these three ladies with me during the day. I really don't know what I would have done without them. They helped take my mind off things and made the time pass a lot faster. The O.R. nurse called the waiting room every hour to update us on how James was doing. She didn't really have new info to give me but just wanted to reassure me that he was okay and everything was going as planned.

After James had been back there for over 6 hours (in actual surgery 5 1/2 hrs) Doctor Sharma came out to talk us. As he began telling us how everything went he didn't chose the best of words. He was almost making it sound like they thought the tumor was benign at first but once they got into the tumor they realized they had been wrong. Thank goodness this was not the case and I just held my tongue and waited for him to finish his sentence to find out that they are pretty sure it's benign still. They sent the tumor off for a biopsy to make sure but they seem very hopeful. He said that the tumor had spread down the nasal cavity and into James left cheek a little further than he had thought from the ct scans. He had to drill away some bone to get access to the tumor and get it all removed.

He said there was quite a lot of bleeding but luckily not enough to need a blood transfusion. He said the tumor looked like the shape of a boomerang with the middle being the size of a golf ball. He was able to remove the entire thing though and also fix Jame's septum as well. After he left the 4 of us just fell completely silent. Then we all started bawling like little babies. It was as if a ton of bricks had been lifted off each of our shoulders. I can't describe the feeling in the room, it was incredible and such relief!!!

Jame stayed in recovery for probably another couple of hours and then they finally brought him up to his room where we were all anxiously awaiting. As soon as I saw the nurse wheeling his bed down the hall I darted for him. He was still pretty groggy but gave us all a big wave.

They kept him overnight and then the next morning Dr Sharma returned to check up on how he was doing. Everything looked really well and the bleeding was under control so we were able to go home! It's amazing to think of all that Jame had been through and we were going to be discharged already!! Man, technology has really come so far and without it I would not have my husband.

James has an appointment to go back and have splints taken out of his nose on Monday. He will also have some packing removed that was left in his cheek to stop the bleeding from the bone they drilled.

January 11th is a day we both will never forget. We feel so blessed and we know that Heavenly Father answered all of our prayers. We want to give a huge thank you to all of you for your kind words and support you have given us through this difficult time. It has truly touched us and we feel so lucky to have such amazing people in our lives. We also want to say how thankful we are to Dr Sharma and the medical team that worked on Jame. They saved his life and for this we will forever be greatful. We love you all!!!

James turned 27 today and we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse (Thanks Mel for the lovely gift card) We also had cake and ice cream back at the house. James Mom stopped by just in time for that :) My Mom stopped by earlier on her way to work and then my Dad stopped by a little after that. It's been lots of fun visiting with everyone and Gavin has enjoyed showing them all his and Jaylee's Christmas gifts.

I have been racking my brain lately thinking of ways to take James' mind off his tumor and the upcoming surgery. His birthday is this Thursday the 30th so I thought it would be great to surprise him with a night at The Anniversary Inn. We really can't afford it right now but James did so good on his finals (3 B's and 1 A) that I felt like he really deserved it. So I just charged the credit card and prayed that he wouldn't go online and check the account since he does this often :) My beautiful sister in law Natalie, graciously slept at our house Sunday night and watched the kiddos so that we could go. This is our third time going and definitely our favorite room so far! The first time we went we stayed in the Jungle Safari room and it was really neat. Then we went one time for my birthday and stayed in the Egyptian pyramid room. This time we booked the Tuscany room and it was absolutely beautiful!!! I posted some pics below and hope I don't get in trouble for doing so. I just want you all to see this amazing place and if you ever get a chance to go I would HIGHLY recommend choosing this room to stay in!

The next day before we headed home, James wanted to drive by the LDS hospital just to see exactly where it is and how to get there so we will know. After finding the hospital we realized we were right next to the capitol building. We both have never been inside so we decided to take a quick tour. Then we met up with James' sister Maegan for lunch. We had such a great time and loved spending it together. We were starting to have withdrawals from our children though and headed straight home after lunch.

Christmas 2010

What a great Christmas!!! We spent Christmas Eve with my Mom brother and sister. We had a dinner, opened gifts, and watched a movie. Then on Christmas day we woke up and opened gifts then headed to my Grandparents house for more gift opening and the yummiest lunch ever (courtesy of my Uncle Don) Afterward we headed to James parents house and had a yummy Christmas dinner and visited with everyone. It was a very nice Holiday spent with a very nice family! Gavin and Jaylee were completely spoiled like usual, I literally don't know where we are going to put everything!!!

What a fun birthday! We threw Gavin a pirate themed birthday party this year with family and a couple friends. We played pin the sword on the pirate, magical chairs, and the big hit was the treasure hunt of course. Gavin got spoiled with lots of fun toys and gifts. So last Sunday I asked James to watch the kids while I jumped into the shower. It was my birthday and we had a few people stopping by. He was taking a nap, but I said Gavin is just watching a movie and Jaylee is in her crib. So I go and start getting ready to hop in the shower and all of a sudden I hear this loud "boom, boom, thud!" Immediately I start thinking the worst! All these crazy ideas start running through my mind like "Oh no, the tumor ruptured and James just passed out!" or stupid things like that. I can't help it, ever since we found out about this darn tumor I am so paranoid!

I stood really still and listened. I couldn't hear any crying or anything unusual. I told myself to relax and stop worrying yourself. It was probably just Jame and Gavin wrestling around or playing like they usually do, no big deal. So as I am about to step into the shower, I hear James yell "Ashley, I need help!"

You can imagine how I felt. I thought I was going to throw up! I grabbed a towel and my cellphone off the counter and ran out the door. Then I hear him say "I am at the bottom of the stairs!" I look down and there he is, sprawled out on the floor! Before I even realized what I was doing, I had the phone in my hand ready to call for help. I said "Oh my gosh, what happened?! Do I need to call an ambulance!!!" he then said "No, I just hurt my foot." Whooo, I let out a huge sigh of relief. He said that he felt bad, because he knew by asking for help I would immediately think the worst but he couldn't help it. He was pretty sure he broke his foot.

I have never seen James' in so much pain before! He said that Jaylee started crying and he went and got her out of her crib and started going downstairs. When he got to the last couple of stairs, his right foot slipped and he fell hard on the outer side of it snapping his ankle as well. He collapsed to the floor and fell hard on his elbow, because he was holding Jaylee in his other arm and wanted to make sure she didn't get hurt. Luckily she was fine, but it scared her pretty bad. Gavin witnessed the whole thing from the living room and was pretty upset himself.

I asked James if I could run up and put some clothes on and then come help. He started crawling to the couch to elevate his leg while I got dressed upstairs. I ran back downstairs and looked at his foot, it was already pretty swollen. We iced it and the next day when he woke up it was feeling even worse. He couldn't put any pressure on it and so we headed to the Dr for x-rays. After the x-rays, the Dr said it's not broken, just a bad sprain. He said in some cases sprains can be more painful than an actual break. He then put a brace on it and we headed home.

Poor James is having one heck of a month!! I feel so bad for him! The surgeon's office finally called us today though and said that his surgery won't be until January 11th! They couldn't get it any sooner because they have to schedule some type of machinery and that was the soonest they could get us in. Normally that would be fine, except James is having a lot of headaches and pain in his left cheek. He can't have any medicine (except Tylenol) because the surgeon doesn't want him taking any type of blood thinners (Advil, Motrin, Etc) before the surgery. Also, we were hoping for a day in December because we have met our insurance deductible this year already from having Jaylee and it would have saved us a TON of money. Ah well, as long as he is healthy that's all that really matters :)

So now we are just playing a waiting game. The anticipation is driving us both insane! James keeps referring to the whole situation as though he has the flu. He said "You know when your going to throw up you dread it and don't want to do it, but then you get to that point where you want to make yourself throw up because you know you will feel better once you do? Well, that's how I feel." He is terrified of having surgery, but if he could have it tomorrow he would be ecstatic because then he would be able to get this all over with and move on with his life.

tumor update

Today we went to see Dr Pramod Sharma, he is a head and neck oncology surgeon. After looking at Jame's MRI photos he decided a second ct scan was needed since the first one was taken of just his sinuses. They wanted to take this scan to check his bones. They were worried that the tumor may have corroded through the bone and into the brain. So James headed downstairs and they did the scan while also injecting him with contrast dye. It helps the tumor show up better on the photos and gives the Dr a better idea what he is dealing with.

After looking at the ct scan results, and to our relief, they could see that the tumor had not reached the brain!!! This was great news! Then they wanted to do another scope of James nose. So they sprayed a numbing spray up both nostrils and stuck a camera up in the left side. We were able to see everything on a little screen and it was crazy! As they went up his nostril the Dr was describing everything we were seeing, and then they came to this massive blob of blood vessels. The Dr said "There it is." I didn't expect to see the actual tumor because I thought it was too far back in his head. It's pretty big and has begun to grow down the left side of his nasal cavity and over into the sinus behind his cheek as well as growing back towards the brain.

Dr Sharma said it's too risky to do a biopsy on the tumor because it does have SO many blood vessels running through it. Jame would run the risk of losing too much blood. Based on what the Dr was seeing though, he thinks surgery is going to be the best option. They are going to perform and endoscopic surgery where they go up through the nostrils and remove the tumor that way. It's a newer procedure and SO much better than what they used to do. In older cases they would have made an incision down the side of his nose continuing under the nose and down the center of the top lip. Then they would open the face up (sorry I know this is graphic!) and remove the tumor that way. Patients were also at high risk for needing blood transfusions. James may still need a blood transfusion with this endoscopic surgery, but the chances are a lot lower.

The Dr said there are a couple other risks with the surgery as well. One being that the tumor is located so closely to James optic nerve that he could lose his eye sight in the left eye. Second is that the tumor is connected to a bone that is separating the sphenoid sinus from the brain. If this bone gets cracked enough or broken during removal then that causes potential risk for the cerebrospinal fluid (liquid the brain floats in) to leak out.

Overall the Doctor seemed pretty positive about the surgery though, and said that the chances of those things happening are very slim. They are going to try and schedule the surgery in December but if the month is too full then for sure January. We will know tomorrow the exact date.

Before James goes into surgery they will have to perform a procedure called and embolism. This is where they go in through a vein in James' groin and inject a small catheter. They will feed the catheter up through James' body, through the neck, and up into the tumor. They will then find the main vein supplying all the blood to the tumor and inject a medicine into it. The Dr said think of it as a "spray foam" type of thing. It will go into the tumor and soak up the blood so that they then can go in and remove it without the risk of excessive bleeding.

Dr. Sharma was so good at explaining everything to us in detail and in a way that made sense to us. I looked up his credentials online and he seems amazing with tons of experience in this area. That's such an important thing to us considering this type of tumor is so incredibly rare. Dr. Sharma said that the average ear nose and throat surgeon may only see 4 to 5 cases like James in their entire medical career! Patients with these tumors are referred to him and he has had one other case this year besides Jame's.

He is pretty positive that the tumor James has is indeed the Juvenile Nasal Angiofibroma, which is a benign tumor thank goodness. That means James started growing this tumor in his early teens around puberty. It has something to do with his genetics and testosterone. Only males can have this type of tumor and it's usually found anywhere between ages 15 to 25. Dr Sharma said there is still that small chance that once they remove it with surgery and perform a biopsy on it that it could be cancerous, and a different type of tumor, but he highly doubts it. All the signs and pictures show it to be JNA

So overall James and I are extremely happy with the news we heard today. This whole situation could have been so much worse than what it really is. This obviously is still a very serious and scary situation, but we feel positive that things will be okay. We want to thank all of you for the prayers and fasting. We truly believe that with the Lords' help anything is possible, and we have definitely felt all the prayers and love from all of you. Thank you Thank you Thank you

I'm going to try and explain these photos to you. The brain is in the bottom of the pic then in the middle there is a big white blob, that is the tumor. It's completely filling in his left sphenoid sinus (it shows up on the right side of the pic) and growing back towards his brain. It should look like a black empty space which is what the right sphenoid looks like in the pic. The top of the pics are the nasal cavity and front of his face. Hopefully that helps :)

Prayers Needed

James has had breathing problems with his nose since I met him back in High School. Over the years it has progressively gotten worse. After begging and pleading with him for months I finally got him to agree to see an Ear Nose and Throat specialist about fixing his deviated septum. He met with the Dr and they scheduled a date for his surgery which was going to be this Tuesday Dec, 7th. It's a pretty simple procedure, nothing too serious and it was just going to be same-day surgery.

Yesterday he went into the Dr for a pre-op visit. They were going to do a ct scan just to make sure everything looked okay and the Dr knew exactly what he would need to do during surgery. Well to everyone's surprise the ct scan showed a mass growing up behind James' left eye at the base of his brain. The tumor was filling up his entire left sphenoid sinus cavity. The Dr said this worried him and he was going to have to perform more tests.

Today we went over to the hospital and James' had an MRI. After the MRI we took the results over to the Dr for him to review. He said this is definitely a tumor, about the size of a walnut. He went on saying this is out of his expertise and that he was going to refer us to a head and neck oncology surgeon. He also said that they would need to postpone the nose surgery because this is a serious matter that needs to be dealt with first. I couldn't believe what I was hearing!! I guess this is a very rare case too, because normally with this type of tumor grows forwards, out towards the pituitary gland. In James' case it's growing backwards towards the brain

The Dr continued and said that from what it looks like to him it's "probably" benign but he can't be certain. He thinks it's a Juvenile Nasal Angiofibroma or (JNA)

If this is the case then treatment could be any of the 3 options:

1- remove with surgery (which can be very complicated since the tumor is located in such a vital area)

2- perform a biopsy by sedating James' and taking a small section out to test for cancerous cells

3- radiation therapy to shrink the tumor

If the tumor does end up being cancerous, then he would likely be doing chemotherapy as well

Basically that is all we know at the moment and we are hoping to get more answers Monday at his appointment in SLC. Jame's is in pretty good spirits considering the situation. I am a bigger mess than he is, but I worry about everything! He doesn't seem that worried at all, If anything he is more concerned with the cost and trying to work everything out with his job.

I will keep you all updated as soon as we know anything else. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We are also having a family fast this Sunday :)

Can I tell you how incredibly bad I HATE having my picture taken?! Well I needed to update my family pics hanging on the wall (we didn't have any with Jaylee in them) so I had my friend Kamie take some for us. She had this really neat place that she has taken pics at before so we went there. I thought the graffiti was such a fun idea and I liked all the bright colors. Plus every time we get family pics done we always dress up nice and wear matching clothes, but this time I wanted to keep it really casual.

I was worried about seeing the pics, since I am so fat and need to lose some major weight, but I knew all the pics of James, Jaylee, and Gavin would be adorable, and they were! :) After I got the cd from Kamie, my neighbor played around with the pictures and edited them a little bit so I could have a variety of black and white/ sepia, etc. She did an awesome job but I have to admit in the back of my mind I kept thinking "Gosh, if only I was smaller!" or "Dang, I wish I would have curled my hair instead of wearing it straight" and.... the list could go on and on really!

Everyone says I'm too hard on myself but I have been this way my whole life. Anyways James had the pics on his computer at work and one of his co-workers, Ashlee, happened to see them. She commented on them and he told her how I am really self conscious about them. She happens to be a photographer too so she took the cd and started playing around with them.... This girl worked her magic, let me tell you what! She was able to thin me out and it seriously looks like I lost a couple sizes lol! I had no idea you could even do that!!

Thanks to Kamie for taking the pics and dealing with my body issues, Erin my neighbor for editing them and cheering me up, and Ashlee for making me lose 20 lbs in a couple of clicks with the mouse! ;) Here are the edited ones...

Mission to Hawaii!!

Ever since we moved into our townhome over a year and a half ago we have LOVED it! The day we walked in and saw the place we just knew it was where we wanted to live. Our landlords are so awesome and we have the best neighbors ever! Since we are renting and not owning I just assumed I would have to deal with my plain white walls. Well one day I got up the guts to ask my landlord how she felt about painting. To my surprise she said that would be ok as long as I let her know what colors and walls I planned on painting first. I immediately ran to the store and got the paint and threw it on the walls asap (after getting it approved first) here is the before and after!!! It's kind of hard to see what it really looks like in these pics, but I am way pleased with the results :)

75 years young!

My cute Grandma turned 75 on Sunday and my Mom's family all got together and threw her a surprise birthday party.... she caught on though and wasn't too surprised dang it! It was still really fun and it was the first time in forever that my Mom and all her siblings were together! Jaylee had fun with her 2nd cousin Graysen who was born just 6 days after her. It was fun getting together with everyone and celebrating my Grandma. She is a breast cancer survivor and a wonderful Grandma! I remember having sleepovers at her house when I was a little girl and she would snore really loud lol! She was always willing to read books or play games and puzzles with you and still does to this day with Gavin! He loves going to her house to visit.

Gardner's Village

Last year I went to Gardner's Village for the first time with my sister in law's Daurie and Maegan and it was so fun! I loved walking around and seeing all the cute witches they have decorating the place. I remember Gavin and his cousin Brighton had so much fun together posing in front of them for pics and hanging out. This year I was looking forward to going again, but it didn't work out :( Luckily my Mom and Cousin Melissa were able to go though and it was lots of fun. I couldn't believe how busy they were though in the middle of the day on a Thursday! They have an awesome little petting zoo and a horse ride too.

When Jame left for Florida, that meant we would have the car!!! On Wed I asked Gavin where he wanted to go since he had been so cooped up from being sick all week and the first thing he said was "The Mountains!" He LOVES the mountains. He asks constantly if we can go hiking, camping, or just up to the mountains. So we went up to Jolly's Ranch again. We went about a month ago and I couldn't believe how much the leaves had changed since we were their last! It was beautiful and we even found a 4 leaf clover!

Florida

James went to Florida for a work convention last Wednesday and got home Sunday night. We missed him like crazy!! He had so much fun though, he worked about half the time and played the other half. He went to Downtown Disney at Disneyworld where Xango had a party at The House of Blues. Then Jame and his friend Dave went on a boat ride and did a little sight seeing through all the stores. He said he has never eaten so much food before, every single day they would eat out. There was this buffet at the hotel, it was 30 bucks a person, and all of them would eat and eat until their ribs hurt! There was this place in the hotel where they had baby alligators that they would feed at 6:30 every night. Also the hotel had a real sunken treasure on exhibit there. Jame said back in the 1600's Cuba was going to pay off a debt to Spain so they loaded their ship with tons of gold and jewels. Then 2 days after they set sail a hurricane hit and sunk 3 ships out in the Florida Keys. He brought Gavin back a real alligator foot and Jaylee a cute stuffed animal. It was a pink flamingo that chirps. She LOVES it and so does Gavin. He seemed to like that more than his alligator foot which shocked both Jame and me. He didn't have the camera but sent me some pics on his cell. I will post them on here but the quality isn't very good :)

Sick boy

Man, I haven't posted in awhile it seems like. About a week or 2 ago Gavin was very sick. It was awful, he had strep throat and an ear infection. They gave him an antibiotic shot, which didn't work so we returned to the Dr and got some oral antibiotics. Well every time Gavin took them he would gag and throw up because the medicine was so nasty! So we went back for the third time and they gave him another shot of antibiotics, this time a much stronger one, and thankfully it worked!! I have never seen Gavin so sick and it really worried me. He was in constant pain and would just cry all day and all night. His right side of his neck was extremely swollen, so much so he couldn't move his head to the right or left and he couldn't look up and down either. The swelling has finally gone down and my sweet little boy is back to his normal self again! We couldn't be happier!! This picture was taken during the first Dr visit. Everyone felt so bad for him! All the nurses, and people in the waiting room kept giving him these sad looks and would comment to me how sad it is when little kids are that sick.

So Spanish Fork has opened their new Splash Pad park and even though we have gone a couple of times James had never been so we decided to stop by one day after we picked him up from work. Gavin wasn't in his swimsuit but we just wanted to show Jame what it looked like and play on the playground for a little bit. So as we got there, we put Jaylee in her stroller and started walking up to the fountains. Well lucky us, this is the lovely view we saw first....

Yes, look closely at the girl on the left....your eyes are not deceiving you! That is half her behind hanging out for anyone and everyone to see!! Jame and I immediately looked at each other and trying not to laugh I pulled out my camera because I couldn't believe it! Who honestly can let their bum hang out like that and not even be aware of it?! Wouldn't she feel some kind of breeze, and I would hope if I was ever in a predicament like this that my friend sitting next to me would be nice enough to save me the embarrassment and let me know!! Anyways, after this little diversion we were able to go have some fun in the splash pad and at the park. On our way back to the car the ladies had moved to sit on a bench and when we passed them I looked back and her crack was STILL showing through the bars on the back of the bench. She is going to have one nasty sunburn is all I can say!

Gavin LOVES going over to James parent's house because there are so many fun aunts and uncles to play with! Jame is the second oldest of ten kids so there is always something going on or somebody to play with over at Grandma Jana's house! The youngest sibling is Bethany who is 8 yrs old and Gavin just adores her. Every time we go over there those two are pretty much joined at the hip. Gavin loves to pretend to be her doggy and has worn holes in the knees of many of his pants to prove it!! Jaylee on the other hand is a little bit scared of Grandma Jana's house lol! She isn't used to all the noise and people everywhere and it takes her a good minute to warm up and get used to all the commotion. Once she does though she enjoys herself and gets super spoiled by everyone taking turns holding her and playing. We are so lucky to be part of such a wonderful family!

Jaylee has a thing right now called "stranger anxiety." Gavin also had it when he was her age. They are terrified of people they don't know or people they don't see that often. It's so sad and so when we took Jay in for her pics I was a little worried. We sat her down and the photographer got right down in her face and started smiling and making noises with her mouth....immediately Jaylee started to scream and cry. I warned the lady before we began but she didn't realize just how bad it is. After a while Jay luckily calmed down and we were able to get some pretty cute pics... I can't believe she is already 5 months. I wish time could just slow down!

Jaylee's 4 month check up

Our little baby is getting SO big! I wish I could slow time down so bad, I really can't believe she is already 4 months old. I took her to her check up a couple of weeks ago and everything looks great! She is in the 95% on her height and 90% on her weight which is an improvement considering at her 2 month check up she was off the charts! Jaylee is an amazing baby. She sleeps all the time, never gets fussy, and is just so content. She loves watching her big brother and you can always get her to smile. We are still working on getting her to laugh though, the little stinker holds it in every time we tickle her and I am dieing to hear that giggle!! We love her so much and feel so blessed to have her in our family.

First trip to the dentist

Gavin was so cute when he went to the dentist. He was very excited and couldn't wait for the dentist to 'vacuum' and 'count' his teeth. I was very surprised with how brave he was, he sat very still with his mouth wide open and even giggled a few times because it tickled. He had zero cavities and they let him pick a prize out of a basket of toys. I thought for sure he was going to pick the most girlie thing in there like the barbie or the bracelet....but to his father's relief he chose a orange lizard :)

This place is so neat! It's up Payson canyon and it's a real easy hike. It has a couple different areas that cross over a little creek on these log bridges and then at the end you go around a big rock and there is a little waterfall with a pool of water underneath. The kids love playing in it even though it's pretty cold! I definitely want to go back this summer before it starts getting too cold. Gavin had a blast. We went with our new next door neighbors (who we love!!) and they have a 4 yr old boy named Porter. Gavin says that Porter is his best buddy and talks about him to everyone! They ride bikes together, play at each others houses, and have a blast in their sunbeams class together at church. We couldn't have asked for a better family to move in

Poor Gavers. We went shopping at Kohls today and Gavin was running back and forth from Jame and I (which was only about 5 feet) saying funny things. Jame was standing by the cart with Jaylee and I was over looking at flip flops. Anyways Gavin would run up to me and say something like "Hey, how have you been?" and then start laughing and run back to Jame and say something else really weird. Well this continued for a couple of times and so I told him he better stop running back and forth or he is going to fall and hurt himself. Literally 20 seconds after I said that I hear a tumble and Gavin crying. I turn around and can't see him because he was behind a little display of sunglasses, so I look up at Jame with a face like "Can you go pick him up and see if he is ok?" I turn around and continue to look at the flip flops when I hear Jame say "Oh no, this is a bad one!" Right away I felt a pit in my stomach and went running over to see blood gushing down Gavin's face and Jame trying to apply pressure with his thumb on Gavin's forehead. Gavin had face planted into the corner of a metal shelf. I told him to have Gavin lay down on the floor and I went to go get some paper towels. Well an employee was standing right there close so I ran up to him and told him what happened and if he could go get some paper towels. He looks over at Gavin and his face just drops. He didn't know what to do and he just kind of stood there looking stunned and saying nothing. So I ask him again "Can you please go get some paper towels or tell me where your bathrooms are so I can run and get some?" Then he gets on his walkie talkie and starts saying "Little boy hurt. Bleeding badly. We need someone over in the purse area." Then he starts walking away kind of fast so I am assuming he is going to get some paper towels. I go back to Jame and Gavin and start telling Gav it's going to be fine and that he was okay. I look up and two more ladies that work there come running over with the guy. They take one look at Gav and start freaking out saying he is going to need stitches and all this other stuff. I was getting so frustrated! Nobody had paper towels and they were scaring the crap out of Gavin. I looked at the lady and said "I realize that, but could you not say it in front of my son because he knows what that means and your making him more upset." She completely ignores me and tells me I am going to have to fill out some paperwork. Then the guy asks us if we can carry Gavin over to the service desk. That is when Jame looked up at the guy and said "We aren't moving him until you get something to put on his head." So then they ran and got towels and a band-aid for him. Jame carried Gavin over to the service desk and the lady starts handing me paper work saying that Kohls will pay for everything and she sent the guy out to take a picture of the metal shelf Gavin hit his head on. She was so worried that we were going to sue them and that was the least of our worries. I know it's not their fault, and I don't blame them at all. Gavin is a 3 yr old boy who is bound to fall and get hurt. I tried explaining that to them but they insisted I fill out the form and they said somebody would be contacting us shortly.

So off we headed to the clinic. We showed up and the Dr took one look and said "Boy, your going to have a pretty big scar with this one!" He had Gavin lay down and he put the needle in to numb it. Gavin did amazing and hardly moved or cried at all. The Dr couldn't believe it and said that most adults don't do as well as what Gavin did. After he got finished Gavin had 7 stitches right between the eyebrows. We took some pics with our cell phone...poor kiddo, he is only 3 yrs old and has already had stitches twice!

Gavin got bit by a mosquito a couple of weeks ago on his leg. It swelled up pretty big and I thought I might need to take him into the Dr....then the next day he woke up and the swelling was going down so I didn't worry about it. Then on July 5th while we were at Jame's parents house watching fireworks he got another one on his hand. The next day his hand was so swollen I couldn't believe it! It was swelled up to his knuckles and red. It definitely looked infected. I took him into the Dr the next day and after he examined it he said that he didn't think it was an infection but that he has a bad allergic reaction to mosquitoes. He traced the bite with a black marker and told me that if the red spread out past the marker by the next day then he would call in an antibiotic. Well the next morning sure enough the swelling had gone down and it looked a ton better! I took some pics with my cell phone so sorry they aren't that good but you can kind of see how swollen it got.

Snow Bird

Thanks to our wonderful friends The Zellers, we were able to go up to Snow Bird last weekend and we had a blast! Gavin loves playing with Trayce and Trevyn, he calls them his brothers :) We went swimming, played at the park, and hung out in the game room for awhile. Gavin was given some pretty cool pajamas by his Aunt Carlie and insisted on wearing them up at Snow Bird. He looked a little silly running around the game room in them....ah well! On the way home we stopped at The Mayan and the Trayce and Gavin couldn't get enough of the cliff divers!

Jaylee was blessed on June 6th and we loved having all our friends and family be a part of it. Jay is such a good baby. She hardly cries and just grins constantly. She was wide awake during the blessing and throughout the rest of sacrament. We had everyone over to the clubhouse afterwards for lunch. It was a beautiful day!

Gavin has been such a good sport the past couple of weeks. I was so worried he was going to be way jealous of Jaylee but to my surprise he just adores her. He is constantly wanting to hug and kiss her and he tells everyone he can about his new baby sister. I feel bad that I am not able to give him all the attention I once was able to give, but maybe that is a good thing. He was pretty spoiled there for awhile and now he has to share his time and attention with his new sister. I am so proud of him and so lucky to be his Mom. I love him so much!

So I have already told you guys that we got the name Jaylee from combining Jame and my names together but we have had a few people ask where her middle name Nicole came from.

James' uncle Jason married a wonderful woman named Nicole and she is who we have named Jaylee Nicole after. Nicole has had a lot of trials in her life and we admire her so much. She has been through a lot and is always so positive and happy every time we see her. We really look up to her and thought it would be so great to have her name be Jaylee's middle name! So there you have it :) We love you Nicole!!!

Jaylee Nicole came early Easter morning and we couldn't be happier! She weighed a whopping 9 lbs 8 oz and was 19 1/2 in tall. Here is her birth story...

We were scheduled to be at the hospital at 5 am on Easter morning (April 4th) so my sister came and slept at our house to be with Gavin in the morning. Jame and I stayed up all night because we were so excited (and nervous) and then headed to the hospital with my Mom around 4:45 am. To our surprise there was a snow storm so it took awhile to drive on the roads but we finally got there and checked in.

We got to the room, I changed into my gown, and then the nurse came in to start the I.V.. Jame was standing on one side of the bed holding my hand as she was putting the I.V. in the other. All of a sudden I hear the nurse say "Are you ok?" I looked at her thinking she was talking to me and realized she was looking up at Jame! So I hurry and looked at him and his face was so green and pale. He kind of groaned weird and so the nurse and my mom made him sit down. I was so scared he was going to pass out. The nurse left to get him some juice as he sat there trying not to faint! He said he was watching her put the I.V. in and she was having trouble finding my vain so she was moving the needle around and some blood came out and he didn't handle that very well :)

Luckily he started feeling better right away and then the anesthesiologist came in to give me my epidural. After that it was time to head into the operating room. I was SO scared and completely freaking out. I had an awesome anesthesiologist that gave me some medicine to help me calm down. He insisted it was okay for the baby so I had him give it to me and it really helped me calm down and stop panicking. Next thing I know we are in the operating room and they have already begun cutting me open. I felt absolutely nothing and just laid there waiting to hear my baby cry for the first time. Then the doctors said here she comes so Jame stood up with the camera and got some great pics of them pulling her out! (Ya, pretty weird that he can see my insides cut open and do just fine but can't handle the I.V. lol)

I was so relieved to hear her little cry but the Doctors were still concerned with her breathing and decided to take her to the NICU to be put on a machine. So Jame left with them and my Mom came in to sit with me for the rest of my surgery. After they were finished I was wheeled into my room and waited very impatiently to see my baby girl. She was born at 8:04 am and by the time they brought her to me it was already 1 in the afternoon. Luckily Jame had his cellphone on him and texted me pics throughout the morning.

I couldn't believe how big and chunky she looked in all the pics he was sending me!! I thought for sure she was going to be smaller than Gavin who weighed 9 lbs 3 oz but when they told me she was 9 lbs 8 oz I was shocked! I was so happy when they finally brought her to me and I got to hold her for the first time. She is such a sweet baby and has the cutest little cry.

My recovery took longer than expected ( I did really well with Gavin and was able to leave a day early) so we stayed until Wednesday afternoon and then were able to head home. I had a hard time once we got home with depression and anxiety. It was so hard, I felt overwhelmed and scared. Luckily I have an amazing husband and mom who helped me incredibly! I don't know what I would have done without them. After another week or so I started to slowly get back to normal. Everyday gets better and better thank goodness and I am so happy to have my little girl. she is so much fun and Gavin absolutely adores her!

We just took her to her 2 week check up and she is doing great. The nurse said that usually babies will have lost some weight at 2 weeks but our little chunk gained! She is now 10 lbs 9 oz and 21 in long! They said she is as healthy as can be and we feel very blessed!

Prego update

Well I can't believe that baby Jaylee is almost here! This pregnancy has gone by so much faster than with Gavin. Probably because i was so sick my entire pregnancy with him and this time I have felt great except for the past couple of weeks but that's just cus it's getting to the end and I am miserable! I can't believe she will be here in just a few weeks! Jame and I can't stop talking about how excited we are to hold her and see her little face. I'm dieing to know what she looks like and if she will have any hair lol. Gav is getting pretty excited as well and is already sharing his toys with her. He will come and put a dinosaur or snake or some other toy and set it on my belly. He will say this is for baby Jaylee. He loves sharing now but just wait until she is old enough to actually play with the toy and then I am sure he won't be as willing. Hopefully these last few weeks go by fast and we will be home with our new baby girl before we know it!

Christmas time!

We were so so excited for Christmas this year just because Gavin is at such a fun age and we couldn't wait to see his little face Christmas morning. He was so cute Christmas Eve night. He kept laying in bed and listening and then every now and then he would yell, "I think I just heard Santa!!" Then he would run to his window and look for him. Jame and I woke up to Gavin saying "Santa came, Santa came!" So we grabbed the camera and headed downstairs. He was thrilled to see his bike and then he started tearing through the rest of his presents. After our morning we headed to my Moms, then to my grandparents, and last but not least James' parents house. It was a wonderful day and it all went too fast! Gavin was really upset a couple of days later when we took the tree down.

Gavin's Birthday

Gavin turned 3 on the 19th of December and I still can't believe he is that big already. We had a little party over at our clubhouse with family the night before since we had a Christmas party to go to on his actual birthday. That's what happens when your born so close to Christmas poor kiddo. He didn't seem to notice or care at all though. The only thing that was hard for him is that my birthday is on the 12th and he saw me get presents and then his cousin Brighton's birthday was on the 15th and he saw all those presents and then all the gifts under the tree, it was so hard for him! He didn't understand how come everyone got to have presents except him. So finally when it was his turn he was ecstatic! We had him pick out a cake that he wanted and all he kept saying was Tinkerbell lol, I finally talked him into Spiderman and he was happy with it. Daurie did such a good job, like always, making his cake. It turned out so cute!

GIRL!!!! We can't believe it. Gavin was determined that he was having a brother so when we told him it's a girl and that he is having a baby sister he seemed really confused at first but I think he is finally warming up to the idea. He is super excited to be a big brother though and comes up to my tummy all the time to kiss it and talk to his little sister.
James is worried because he says he doesn't know how to be a daddy to a little girl. I told him it's the same as with Gavin but he feels like he needs to act differently or something! LOL, you should have seen his face light up though when we were told it's a little girl. He was thrilled and I know this little lady is already going to be a Daddy's girl!
Thanks to all our friends and family that were just as excited as us to find out what we were having. I loved getting all the texts the night before and the day of with everyone saying how they were so excited and for me to text them or call the second we find out. It means a lot to us to know so many people care.
When Jame and I were in High School and had been dating for a few years we were talking about if we ever got married and had kids what we would name them. We never really came up with a boy name but we picked Jaylee for a girl because it's our names combined and we really liked it. So we are still sticking with that and our little girl will be named Jaylee. We still are undecided on the middle name though.
I can't wait to buy headbands and dresses and pink everything!!! AHHHHHHH I can hardly wait until she gets here!!! We have our little boy and now we will get our baby girl. I feel so blessed!
Oh and the ultrasound lasted an hour and a half (normal time is usually 45 min) because the little monster was moving around like crazy! Our ultrasound guy was having the hardest time getting her measurements and said she is the most stubborn he had seen all day. I had to keep laying on my right side and then left side and then again on my back just so we could check everything because she wouldn't cooperate at all LOL. He kept joking that it looks like she is going to have ADHD and that we already have our hands full! Oh Great!!

Halloween 09

This Halloween was awesome!! Gavin made the cutest little pirate and Jame dressed up as his idol Lebron James. Gavin had a blast trick or treating and would go to the door and just yell "Trick or Treat" instead of knocking. It actually worked at some homes because they heard him (or saw him coming out the window) and opened the door. He was so excited about the candy that he was collecting in his pumpkin and kept looking in to see it all. Gavin also had a fun Halloween Party with all his little friends. It was a blast and so fun to see all the kiddos in their costumes. They played fun games like "Pin the wart on the witch's nose" and they made pumpkin masks out of paper plates. We had a candy hunt and let them make their own mini caramel apples. I think the Mom's were more worn out than the kids towards the end!

Xango had another costume party this year, and since last year I felt like we got ripped off, I wasn't expecting anything this year. I really didn't want to get my hopes up and honestly I thought James costume last year was a lot better than this year (If you don't remember you can look back to my October post from last year)So when Jame called me from work and told me he won I couldn't believe it. Right off I assumed it was 2nd or 3rd place but when he said it was first I about peed my pants! He won $500 that we so desperately needed! We are going to spend it on Christmas and birthdays that are coming up. What a lifesaver!! We went out that night to celebrate at Ruby River where we both ordered steaks. We usually don't do that because it's so expensive, but this was a special occasion :)Jame totally deserved to win because he worked long and hard on his costume and he was so proud of how it turned out!

HELP!

So I went to my Dr today for my monthly check up for my pregnancy, and I asked him what his opinion is on the H1N1 vaccine. He got really serious and told me that I NEED to get it! He said they are expecting at least 4 pregnant women in Utah County alone to DIE from the swine flu this season!! He said when this virus hits pregnant women it hits them really hard and their immune systems are not as good so that is why they are on the top of the list recommended to get the vaccine.

I have had such mixed feelings about it and because it's so new I don't totally trust it all the way. I am terrified it's going to give my unborn baby some kind of birth defect or something crazy like that! I know, you guys are probably rolling your eyes while reading this and thinking "Typical Ashley, always worrying about one thing or another!" but I can't help it, I'm terrified! Also, if I get the vaccine does that mean I am completely immune to getting the swine flu, or do I still have a chance of getting it?

I have never been a fan of flu shots, every time Jame or I have had one we get sick afterward, and then we still end up getting the flu later on. I feel like it's a waste of time and money. My Dr was saying the side effects from the vaccine are not even comparable to what could happen if we got the actual flu. So he pretty much scared me to death into getting the vaccine but I still have such mixed feelings!

So I need opinions people!! Do you think I should get it or should I just try and stay home as much as possible and wash my hands constantly! I am willing to do that to be safe until this baby is born!! I already have been carrying hand sanitizer around in my purse and staying away from friends or family that have been sick. I also haven't been taking Gavin to Nursery because I just don't want to risk it! (I know, I am a bad mother!) but it seems like every time Gavin picks something up it is there! I hate it when parents send their sick kids to church!!! Anyways if you have had the shot let me know if you had any worries or weird side effects!

AHHHH this place is by far my favorite ever! We are going to make it a family tradition to go here every year. It's usually 13 bucks a person to get in, but our dear friend Ally told us about this amazing deal on KBULL 93's website where you could print off coupons for only 3.93!! We couldn't pass this deal up so we printed our tickets off and were on our way! We literally could have spent an entire day here, no joke. There was so much to do, everywhere you turned there was something else! Gavin was in heaven! They had corn mazes, huge slides, cow train rides, singing chickens, pig races, 3D spooky funhouse etc. etc. etc.! If you get a chance to go here you definitely should! They had a kid maze that Jame took Gavin through, and yes, he got lost! I kept seeing people that went in way after them and they were coming out and I still hadn't seen my husband or son. I was starting to get worried and then I got a phone call from Jame saying they got lost and were working their way back through the way they had come in! LOL, leave it to Jame to get lost in the Kiddie maze :) Oh and they had this cute little store that Gavin was obsessed with! He loved pretending he was a cashier and taking our food orders. It was hilarious

This place is adorable! I had never been before so my two sister in-laws, Daurie & Maegan, took me and it was a blast! We ate lunch at Archibalds (very yummy!) then took Gavin and his cousin Brighton to ride the ponies and to the petting zoo. They LOVED that and we could hardly get them to leave until we bribed them to go and see the witches. All the little shops were adorable and I wish I had tons of money to spend in them!

We go to this every year, and we love it. Spanish Fork City puts on a free Fall event at the public library with hay rides, craft table for the kids, balloon animals (Gavin had the clown make him a balloon sword)and really cheap food vendors. Everything is between 1 to 3 dollars! This year Peter Brienholdt performed witch was an extra special treat! I only got a couple of pics of Gavin posing with his aunt Savannah and aunt Natalie in the character painting things (I don't know what you call them)

First Ultrasound!

I have a feeling almost all my posts are going to baby related from now on, so I am going to apologize now :) I went in for my first ultrasound today and I forgot just how incredible it really is to see your baby for the first time. When I saw that little heart beating away it was a huge feeling of relief followed by excitement and happiness!! I am only ten weeks and 6 days (my due date got moved up 2 days, yahoo!) so I am not far along enough yet to know the gender but everything looked really good and how it should. Our little peanut is the size of a plum now and he/she was moving around like crazy!! It was so funny to watch him/her swing it's arms and legs all over, I loved it! Our new due date is April 8, 2010 which is Jame and my anniversary and the day we conceived little Gavers which I thought was pretty cool :) I go back for my next visit on Sept 28th.

Okay for those of you who know, Jame and I have struggled for a full year trying to get pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS (Poly cystic ovary syndrome) when Gavin was about a year old. That made it to where I couldn't ovulate and it was extremely hard for me to get pregnant. For the last couple of months I have been taking Clomid (fertility drug) and had no success. So when I took a home pregnancy test yesterday and it was positive I about died!! I couldn't believe it so a couple of hrs later I took another one and it was positive too!! Jame and I were thrilled but also a little hesitant because we didn't want to get our hopes up and then be disappointed. Today I went to my Doctor's office to take a preg test there and when the lady came out and told me "Congrats, it's positive" that is when it really hit me. I started crying and couldn't believe it was real!! I know I am only about 5 weeks along, but I am way too excited to keep this a secret. Lets just hope and pray that everything goes smoothly and we will have a healthy happy little baby next April!!! Gavin is pretty excited as well, even though he doesn't quite understand it all. We told him he was going to be a big brother and his little face lightened right up. I said "Mommy has a baby in her tummy!" and then this is what he said...."And Daddy has a baby in his back?" LOL, what a silly kid. Maybe one of these days he will catch on to what is happening. We are so thrilled and feel extremely blessed. We were really worried for awhile that we weren't going to have any more children! I am so happy and still can't believe this is really happening!

Our awesome friends Jennifer and Dustin invited us to go stay the night at Dustin's parents timeshare up in Snowbird. It was so much fun! We swam and laughed our heads off playing scattergories. We ate way too much junk food and then the next day the boys went on the alpine slide and we found a fun playground to hang out at for awhile. Holiday Weekend in Arizona

This year we went down to St Johns, AZ with my cousin Melissa to spend the holiday weekend with her and the family. We had an absolute blast and could totally see ourselves living down there....I guess we will just have to visit once or twice a year for now ;) They own a ranch with cattle and they have property up the canyon as well that was really cool. We had so much fun feeding the horses, riding the 4 wheeler, going to the parade and fireworks, and just hanging out. Jame went branding for the first time (I stayed home, I can't handle seeing the cows get burned.) My Cousin Vicki and her husband King were there too with their cute little girls Carolisa & baby Zerin. Gavin LOVED playing with Carolisa and was so sad when we had to leave. They loved chasing lizards but freaked out when we finally caught one and had them hold it. For 2 or 3 days after we had been home Carolisa is all he would talk about. Too bad she lives in Phoenix!!! My Aunt Carol and Uncle Ellis (PaPa is what Gavin and Carolisa call him) spoiled us rotten and we are really missing all those home cooked meals we had! All in all it was an awesome weekend and we are so glad we went.

Last Thursday we had Jame's 2 youngest sisters sleep over and Gavin had a blast!! They kept him occupied for a day straight (what a nice rest!) We watched "Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium" in the theater room and then went swimming the next day. I love those girls, when I first met them Savannah was only 2 and Bethany wouldn't be coming for another 4 years or so. I have grown so close to them and love having them over.

Gavin is POTTY TRAINED!!!! I have been pleasantly surprised with my little guy. I didn't want to force him and make it not fun and one day he came up and said "I need to go potty" so we ran to the bathroom took his diaper off and voila! I ran upstairs and grabbed the package of Elmo undies my Mom got him for Christmas and he was so excited to wear them and be a "big boy!" That did it, it has been about 5 days and only 2 accidents!! I'm so proud, no more changing and spending money on diapers!!!

So my amazing wonderful awesome friend Jen took some pics of Gavin and I could not be happier with the way they turned out. She is amazing!!! So I was ready to have a little get away, even if it was just camping! We thought that would be the cheapest way to take a vacation so we planned a little trip to Arches. Well our "CHEAP" trip didn't end up being as cheap as we thought! We went and had our oil changed on our car the day before we left and they informed us that we needed two new front tires because our tread was extremely low. So the next morning we stopped at a place on the way (we didn't want to risk driving up the canyon on bad tires) and they said it was going to be $160 per tire!! I was freaking out! They said it is because of the size our car needs and they were 80,000 mile tires or something like that so anyways after $320 worth of new tires we were finally on our way. We got there and set up camp. It was beautiful and we couldn't wait to start hiking. We took a little hike around the camp first and we saw TONS of lizards and other animal tracks that totally freaked me out! It was so funny because Gavin kept talking about "Monkeychips" and we had no clue where he was getting this! We kept asking him what Monkeychips meant and he would just point and look around. Well later we finally figured it out....a chipmonk ran across the trail and Gavin got way excited and yelled "Monkeychips!!" Jame and I started laughing so hard! What a cutie, then we headed back to start dinner just as a huge thunderstorm started. Gavin was terrified so I took him and we ran for cover in the tent. Jame grabbed a tarp and draped it over his head and was planning to wait it out. In the middle of all of this we didn't realize that our camera was left on the picnic table getting soaking wet.....needless to say our camera is ruined! We got a few pics before the thunderstorm but didn't have the camera for the whole rest of the trip. I did have my cellphone though, but the picture quality is horrible! All in all it was a fun trip though and Gavin had a blast! It was nice to get home though and shower :)

I miss my hubby so bad!!! He flew to Las Vegas last Thursday for work and won't be home until tomorrow. Gavin and I have tried to stay as busy as possible to make the time go by faster. Thursday we went to lunch with my bestest friend ever Mikki and then later that night her and her hubby Taylor came over and watched the Jazz game....well Taylor watched the game and Mikki and I talked about anything and everything like usual. We made these really cute signs too! They are so cute and so easy to make! (Thanks to my cousin Melissa and aunt Carol for showing me how to make them and cutting out the wood!) Then on Friday we spent the day at my Grandma Snelsons (Mom's Mom) and made a cute quilt for Gavin. I was supposed to have made this a LONG time ago but kept putting it off so it was nice to finally have it done! Later that night we went to my Dads parent's house because my Grandpa printed some family history info off for me. It was interesting listening to and learning so many things he had found out about my ancestors! I hope to find out even more here soon! Today was way fun also. We went to the zoo with my cousin Melissa! Gavin had the time of his life and hasn't stopped talking about it since. I forgot to take my camera so the pics were all done with our cell phones (bad quality). All in all it has been time well spent but we are missing our hubby/daddy incredibly bad and are counting down the hours until he is home!

Holy cow I don't know what I was thinking! This little project stressed me out! Gavin spilled two different cups of dye on the table and dripped it everywhere else! I knew it was going to be messy going into it but it was worse than I thought! It lasted about 15 min and we were done! He is so excited that the Easter Bunny is going to visit tomorrow and he gets to go to Grandma Jana's for a big Easter Egg Hunt! I don't think he is going to be able to fall asleep tonight :)

I had to post these pics. We went to visit my Dad's parents today and Gavin loves hanging out with Grandpa. We just hung out and watched the Jazz game and Gavin sat as close as possible to Grandpa the whole time.
